At Flower Basket in 12th South; wearing tie-waist t-shirt and petite chambray pants
I have a love-hate relationship with summer in Nashville. It is almost unbearably humid in the summer months, but as a teacher, school is out and much-needed vacations finally arrive. Although I will be escaping to some cooler climates this summer, I do still love to bop around Nashville when I am home and free from work – especially during the week days! Such a treat. And so, with just one week left of school, I am sharing 5 of my favorite ways to enjoy this city during the hot months.
1. Late afternoon picnic in Centennial Park
Madewell stripe shirt / white jean shorts / cat-eye sunglasses / Baggu canvas purse
Just Desserts lunch tote / Madewell crop tee / high-waist denim shorts
I love to put on my summery Madewell clothes for a park day! This lunch tote would be perfect to bring a few La Croix or some cheese and crackers for a late afternoon picnic at Centennial Park. Later in the day is best once it cools down! In August and September, I love bringing some snacks and watching Shakespeare in the Park – one of my favorite summer events – on a blanket.
2. Happy hour at Burger Up
Burger Up has been one of my favorite Nashville spots since high school. The restaurant in 12th South has a lovely, intimate patio for a small group, and the one in East Nashville has a larger patio for big hangouts. They have excellent summer cocktails and bites.
3. Cool down at Las Paletas
Tie-waist t-shirt / Petite chambray pants / Eileen Fisher wedges
Las Paletas is another place that I have been going to for years! It remains the best place to get a popsicle ever, in my opinion. They are the tastiest popsicles, hands down. I particularly love the honeydew, which I am eating above!
4. Go green
Hewitt Garden and Design Center
I love flowers and plants, and finding new ones is such fun in Nashville during the summer! The cutest place to make a flower bouquet is Amelia’s Flower Truck, which travels around Nashville and stops at different spots on sunny days. For all your plant needs, I love Hewitt Garden and Design Center, a small, family-owned and -operated garden center located in Franklin.
5. Find a view
Nashville boasts gorgeous rooftop views. This view is actually from a balcony at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, which has tons of awesome upcoming shows, by the way! For rooftop bars, try L.A. Jackson, ACME Feed & Seed, L27, Nashville Underground, or Rare Bird. Check out even more here.
Happy almost summertime, y’all!
