Today is the first day of my fall break (#firstgradeteacher), and hallelujah – the weather has finally cooled off in Nashville! Whether or not you have a fall break, too (maybe take a Friday off this fall and make your own?), I have compiled a list of some activities that I feel determined to do over this long weekend. I hope it inspires you to take some time for yourself to enjoy this crisp, vibrant season:
Sleeveless Swing Dress / Similar Jean Jacket / Allbirds Sneakers
Pick Out Pumpkins + Mums
It has just been too hot to buy pumpkins and fall flowers yet! With the weather finally cool, I am ready to line my balcony with some classic fresh decor. I love buying pumpkins at Cheekwood and flowers at Creekside (they recently had a fire and could use your support).
Hike in the Mountains
H and I are going to Asheville, NC (well, staying about a half hour outside of it) for two nights over my break, and I am so excited to relax in the fresh, quiet air. We are staying somewhere new, and it seems pretty special – Stay tuned for a blog post all about it when we get back!
Bake Something Festive
Do you guys have any fall baking recipes that you love? I would love to make something with pumpkin, apples, or spices! Maybe a comforting bread or some muffins. Share your favorite recipe in the comments!
Watch a Halloween Movie
I do not like scary movies (the exception being Halloween, which my family always watches on Halloween). I am talking old favorites like Hocus Pocus and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I am ready to get in the spooky mood and watch one!
Curl Up with a Blanket + Cocoa
This is a simple one, but because the weather has been too warm, I have not done this yet! There is something about having a mug of hot cocoa in hand that evokes feelings of childhood comforts and memories of getting cozy with family and pets by the fireside. I often forget to buy cocoa, but I want to make a point of getting some this weekend!
Read for Pleasure During the Day
I read every night before bed, but after a long day of teaching, I usually fall asleep pretty fast. I love an afternoon spent just reading a good novel, and I want to do so this weekend.
What is on your fall must-do list? Share anything you love to do this time of year in the comments!
