I absolutely love a November day in the South. The leaves fall at their brightest, and we can finally consistently wear cozy clothes. With shorter days, I try to get outside for walks or romps in piles of leaves as much as possible, and then embrace the cold by curling up at night. And so, this past weekend, my photographer friend HaleyClare and I met at Percy Warner Park, a place where we have both spent countless hours since we were little.

The parks in Nashville are always gorgeous, but especially so when decked out in fall colors. We spotted a tree skirted by hundreds of bright orange leaves right at the park’s entrance, and headed straight for it.
I had so much fun connecting with my inner child and playing in the leaves, especially at Percy Warner, where I grew up learning about and loving nature.

I take walks almost every day in Nashville’s parks to unwind and exercise. Walking – and just being – in nature is, to me, one of the best ways to feel at peace and calm.

What’s your favorite fall leaf color? I’m partial to bright yellows, but I love them all.

After all our playing in the leaves, I changed into something a little more woodsy, and we headed for the iconic steps (if you haven’t seen them, they’re a must). I have so many memories on these steps – running up them when on the cross country team in high school, standing at the top of them in the snow with our family dogs, climbing them with my dad on summer days.
I loved this day, spent in this beloved place, soaking up the end of fall and pumpkins before the Christmas season (which I am equally as excited about)! How will you spend the rest of fall?
