Winter can be rather dreary, but I love the opportunity to get cozy at home. If you find yourself stuck inside this season, I have some simple tips that have been making my indoor days sweet and happy:
Cook an easy meal
This past weekend, I made this 20-minute Broccoli, Lemon, and Browned Butter Pasta, and it was so comforting and delightful. To be completely honest, I very rarely cook, but I found cooking to be a lovely relaxing and productive activity on a cold day.
Garnish a drink with something fresh
Since making that pasta, I’ve used the leftover lemons in my morning tea and the water I drink throughout the day. It’s been refreshing – and serves as a little taste of summer! I would recommend making your own fruit-infused beverage, garnishing a cocktail with a thin slice of fruit or herb, or popping a few cranberries in a glass of sparkling wine.
Care for low-maintenance plants
There’s nothing like plant babies to brighten up a room. Don’t be afraid if you don’t think you have a green thumb. I recommend starting with a cactus or aloe vera plant. From there, try other succulents. The key to keeping them alive is to ignore them. Overwatering them will be your biggest problem. Place them on a windowsill with partial sunlight, and give them a small drink only when they’re very dry. You’ll be golden.
Host your own Great British Baking Show
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend a biscuit-making class hosted by Ruby Sunshine, a New Orleans-originated restaurant coming to Nashville this March. It was a blast, and I feel inspired to continue baking and creating this winter.
How do you spend cozy winter days? Would love to know in the comments!
Love, Bee
