On Monday, I deemed this week the #weekoflove. I decided that all week long, my focus would be on love. When faced with any situation, I would choose love. I would put my energy into loving myself and loving others.
This week, when someone wanted to merge into my lane, I let them. When a stranger wasn’t smiling on our elevator ride to the parking garage, I smiled and told them to have a good day. When I needed to do yoga after work, I chose to put everything else aside and carve out the time to do it. Focusing your energy on love means loving everyone – including yourself. It means prioritizing the one that needs to be put first at any given time. Sometimes it’s the person in front of you, and sometimes, it’s you.
Loving means listening and paying attention. It requires being in tune with yourself and your surroundings. It means awareness, not becoming lost in your screen or your self-absorption and losing valuable time to love. If you’re preoccupied with your own thoughts, just think: What would be a better use of this time? Where should I be placing my love? And if the answer is in yourself, then do something about it. Woe is me no more. And if the answer is someone in front of you, then give them the attention they need. Love is in your hands to choose, or leave.
Choose love, my friends. Always love.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
Love, Bee
