Anyone else podcast-obsessed? I just love absorbing information, learning, and being entertained – and podcasts check all the boxes. I have gotten hooked and addicted to podcasts like Serial, S-Town, and Dirty John, but there are 3 that I rely on regularly and listen to every week day.
On my way to work: Modern Love
Modern Love: The Podcast features essays from the Modern Love column in The New York Times. These essays tell stories of all types of love and loss, and are read by notable public figures, with subsequent updates from the essayists themselves. I start my day with these gently-told stories that make me feel joyful, nostalgic, pensive, or thoughtful. Listening to this podcast in the car makes for a quiet and peaceful morning drive.
On my way home from work: The Skimm
I have been reading The Daily Skimm for years. It’s a newsletter sent to your inbox that provides all the news needed to start your day in quick, easy-to-read snapshots, with links to lengthier articles for topics you want to learn more about. I also often learn about wonderful brands that support important causes, because theSkimm cares about our world. Imagine my joy when I discovered Skimm This, their podcast, which breaks down the most complicated and important stories of the day. The best part? It’s just 10 minutes long, Monday through Friday. Get on it!
During my post-work walk: This American Life
I like to save This American Life for my walks in the park, since it’s longer, and my walks are three times as long as my commute. This is a podcast I’ve been listening to since I was in college, and it’s one you probably know and love as well. If not, give it a go. Each week, there’s a different theme, with stories to go along with that theme. I often find the stories engaging, interesting, amusing, or entertaining.
