What are your Halloween traditions? If you have kids, then no doubt trick-or-treating is a big one. But otherwise, do you still dress up? Do you watch the same movies every year?
Here are a few of my Halloween traditions!
Eat candy corn
I know that many are not a fan of this seasonal treat, but I love it. And I still buy it and eat it every year.
Dress up
I love dressing up in a costume! I did theatre all through school, so getting to be in character for a night will always appeal to me.
Watch Halloween
Nothing says Halloween like Michael Myers. I don’t like many scary movies, but this one’s a classic. I watch it every late October, typically with my parents, who first introduced it to me!
Hand out candy
I always enjoy answering the door for trick-or-treaters and seeing all the cute costumes! I usually like staying home Halloween night so I can do this. This year will be a little different, though, since I was invited to Nashville’s Liquor Lab Halloween Cocktail Festival. Read about it here, and use code LOCALS for $20 off your ticket.
Lean into spooky vibes
As Halloween gets closer, sometimes I like a windy, rainy walk in the park, or a quiet, dark, candlelit night. Sometime’s it’s fun to feel spooky. Also, I’m sure you’ve heard that being scared can be good for you!
Decorate with pumpkins
I always have pumpkins on the porch and around the house this time of year, but I only sometimes carve jack-o’-lanterns. I wish I did this more often, but it always sounds like so much work! I’ve been thinking about decorating a pumpkin instead with hand lettering or other artwork.
Celebrate at school
I’m a teacher and love doing some sort of celebration at school with my kids! Some days, there’s nothing better than a classic Halloween craft.
Things I want to know in the comments: What’s your favorite Halloween candy? Besides candy corn, mine’s Reese’s! And are you dressing up this year?
P.S. Some last-minute decorations.
