‘Tis the season for leisurely afternoons watching Christmas movies, baking cookies, wrapping presents, and most importantly – festive gatherings with family and friends! One of the best thing about this time of year, to me, is the togetherness, and the joy that comes with simply living in the present moment with the people you love.
If you’re hosting this season, Bailey McLeod of Oakley Carter Events put together a gorgeous set-up that’s sure to inspire your own party and delight your guests! See below the photos I took of her home this past weekend and a few of my own hosting tips:
The Bar
Create a welcoming entrance
I love the natural greenery on Bailey’s bar and think it looks so classic and merry. The sparkly trees, too, provide a cheerful pop!
Have the bubbly ready
As soon as your guests walk in, they’ll be looking for a beverage! Nothing says festive like a bottle of bubbly, so have one chilled and ready to serve.
The Table
Have the table ready
If you’re having a sit-down dinner, have the table set so guests know what to expect. If your evening is buffet-style, you might have the plates in a stack wherever the food will be served instead. Guests appreciate knowing how the evening will go!
Light the candles
Give your table a hygge vibe with candlesticks lit! Candles keep things cozy and make guests feel right at home.
Include a pop of color
I generally love sticking to neutrals and simply mixing in a pop of color. It makes the scene easier on the eyes and allows guests to feel relaxed. Bailey does this with her table, as her color scheme is blue, gold, silver, and white, and she includes a few bright pops of red and natural greenery.
Make it personal
Bailey has these fun Noel cards out that could double as place cards! Personally, I love place cards because they take the potential decision-making stress away from your guests. As long as you know everyone pretty well and know who they might enjoy sitting beside – or at least if you can use your best judgment – determining seats beforehand can make guests feel at ease when it’s time to eat.
Have fun
Most importantly, relax and just enjoy the evening. If you remain uptight, your guests will feel it. Be flexible, and savor the quality time!
Thanks to Bailey for sharing her lovely home! Are you hosting this holiday season?
