Self-care is quite the buzzword these days and gets thrown around in all sorts of contexts. To me, self-care simply means taking of myself. It means that my needs are met so that I can be the best person I can be. I practice self-care on a daily basis by:
Eating healthily
Taking brisk walks in fresh air
Sleeping 8+ hours per night
Drinking plenty of water
Wearing sunscreen
Keeping home neat & clean
Having a skincare routine
And I practice self-care by giving myself what I need on a particular day. Sometimes, that means:
Soaking in the bath
Coloring or drawing
Reading for an afternoon
Taking a nap
Going on a trip
Watching Netflix
Cooking dinner
Ordering take-out
Eating a sweet treat
Doing a face mask
When I’m taking care of my needs, I know that I’m an all-around better human who can show up for others. I feel good, and I’m happy. If you know you need to take gentler care of yourself, I recommend getting in a routine that works for you!
How do you practice self-care?
