It’s a weird time – huge understatement, I know. It’s been difficult for me to find the right words, not that there are any. I go between feelings of calm – enjoying time at home with H and Cleo, reading, walking in the park – and feelings of anxiety when I hear of loved ones losing their jobs or falling ill. As for myself, I am a fifth grade English teacher trying to navigate the world of Distance Learning along with my colleagues.
With everything going on, I think it’s important to limit our exposure of the news and try to find little moments of happiness. Depending on your situation, this may be easier or more difficult, but I think it’s a worthy pursuit. Here are some things that are making me feel happy, and I hope, perhaps, they can do the same for you:
Signs of spring, like the cherry blossoms in Nashville
Walks at the park (with a safe distance from other people)
Making a pot of tea in the morning
Snuggles with Cleo, our dog
Watering our house plants
Lighting a soothing candle
Looking out the window, just being
Printing photographs, creating scrapbooks
Talking with loved ones on the phone
Getting in bed and reading
Wearing comfy slippers
Looking at pretty things on Pinterest
Working on puzzles
Coloring in my coloring book
Watching silly shows, like Parks & Recreation
Are you finding any little happinesses right now? Please share them in the comments!
