We could all use a little extra self-care right now. This weekend, I decided to elevate my showers and baths with some simple touches, and it inspired me to give myself a few mini spa treatments as well. Do something kind for you, and treat yourself to a spa day (or afternoon, or hour) at home. Here are my tips for what you’ll need!
Eucalyptus for the shower
A few friends recently recommended placing eucalyptus behind your shower head because the steam releases a lovely scent. They were right! I had a bouquet from Green Door Gourmet, and I saved the eucalyptus. I tied the stems together behind our shower head, and it made for a spa-like Friday night shower. Not only is the scent calming, but it can also clear nasal congestion, which is much-needed right now during ragweed season if you have allergies like me! You can typically find eucalyptus at a local grocery store, or try Method’s Eucalyptus Daily Shower Spray – it’s amazing.
A comfy bathrobe
When you step out of the shower, wrap yourself in something comfy! I love a waffle knit robe (I have this one in grey), but if you’re looking for something a little more plush, try this one (on sale today).
A fresh color of nail polish
Sometimes I lack the motivation to paint my nails, but something about my eucalyptus shower made me want to do just that. I went with a pedicure! When it comes to taking care of your feet, exfoliate and moisturize when you can (Thanks to my mom for suggesting simply using coconut oil, which can be found at most any grocery store). Then, go with a fall color like one of these. Seeing some fresh color on my toes brightened my day. It’s the little things!
String lights for the bath
If you’re more in the mood for a bath (which I was, on Saturday), I highly recommend some soft lighting. I’m not sure what compelled me to find the Christmas decoration box and pull out some string lights, but that’s exactly what I did. I plugged them in and hung them around the tub, thanks to the towel racks. It instantly made me feel like I was in a spa!
A lavender candle
For me, there’s nothing quite like the scent of lavender. This Relax Aromatherapy candle from Bath & Body Works is my all-time favorite. The scent puts me right at ease.
Spa music
What would a spa day be without spa music? I put on this music while I soaked in the bath, and it made me feel so calm.
A face mask
After my bath yesterday, I was reminded that my cheeks have been dry and irritated from wearing a face mask all day, Monday through Friday (I’m a teacher, and we are teaching in person currently). I had just purchased the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask a few days prior, as this is a brand I already love – their Ultra Repair Cream gives me so much relief for my eczema. And, the oatmeal mask was so soothing! It was the perfect remedy.
Happy relaxing!
