The weather has been finally warming up here in Nashville after a fairly cool and cloudy spring. I am loving the arrival of warmer, sunnier days. It’s making me so excited for summer, especially with just two weeks left in the school year. I thought I’d share some recent lovely moments I’ve had here in Nashville, spent savoring this May:
Fresh Goodies and Flowers at Green Door Gourmet
I always enjoy visits to Green Door Gourmet; just recently I picked out some flowers for our patio there that have been thriving. This morning, H and I went to get some groceries at their market – I love their locally grown lettuce, berries, freshly prepared food, and specialty items. On our way out, I noticed this beautiful rose bush and had to stop by for a photo. There is often value in taking your time and not rushing in and out of places. If I had, I might not have noticed these pink roses.
Late Afternoons on the Patio
My favorite way to dine is al fresco. Now that we have our own patio, I have gotten into making snack boards and enjoying them with company outside at our table. It’s all made better by the fact that our flowers have been blooming and growing tremendously.
Farmers’ Market Eats
What a joy that farmers’ markets are open once again! This past Tuesday, H and I took Cleo to the 12 South Farmers Market, where I snagged these delicious, juicy strawberries from Kelly’s. Strawberries are in season right now, so it’s the perfect time to get some from your local farmers’ market. I am getting so excited about summer eats being available soon as well.
Leisurely Breakfasts
And what better way to enjoy those berries than with breakfast? We get some weekly healthy pre-made meals from Eat to Evolve {try it for 15% off with code BLYTHE15}, and this French toast is one of the best things to order. It is gluten-free (as is all their food), which is perfect for me since I have a gluten sensitivity. No matter what you eat, I definitely recommend starting your weekend mornings with a special breakfast – complete with in-season produce!
Caring for Plants
In addition to working in our garden, we have a number of house plants that we care for. Yesterday, I spent the morning repotting some indoor plants that needed it. Right now is the perfect time to repot your plants. You’ll know a plant needs repotting when the soil looks like it needs freshening, or when it is outgrowing its pot. I find working with plants to be such a relaxing thing to do this time of year.
What warm weather moments have you enjoyed lately?
