It has been my fall break since Thursday, and it’s always a wonderful long weekend to be in town. Sometimes, I like to travel for this break, but often, I prefer to do fun autumnal activities around Nashville. There are a few local spots that are particularly lovely this time of year, and I recommend them especially in mid-October to mid-November, which is when the leaves typically turn here.
The Old School Farm
Last weekend, I attended a wedding at The Old School Farm, and it was just the most beautiful evening. They used to have a restaurant, but recently seem to be in transition to Juniper Green, who catered my friend’s wedding. I am not exactly sure the direction in which the venue is going, but do a little research before you come to see if a visit or event might be possible!
Flying Ghost Pumpkin Patch
Over the past couple of years, this has become my favorite pumpkin patch in Nashville for picking out my pumpkins and mums. They have a wide variety of fresh fall goods. There is no entry fee – It’s fun to just go by and walk around!
Cheekwood Harvest
I love visiting Cheekwood each season, and fall is one of my favorite times to be there. They have a wide variety of vibrant flowers, pumpkins, and two pumpkin houses! You can even buy a pumpkin to take home. It’s a gorgeous spot to walk around leisurely and admire the gardens. There are numerous events throughout the season to attend as well. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.
Beaman Park
There have been a few fall breaks in which my family has driven around 20 minutes to Ashland City’s Beaman Park for a hike! It’s a beautiful spot to spend a weekend morning. On Saturday, we did around 4 miles, which included the Henry Hollow Loop Trail. I loved the sun streaming through the trees, the crunch of acorns under our feet, and the sound of the creek. Leashed dogs are welcome, and it’s great moderate exercise. Park at the nature center, grab a map, and hop on a trail.
