The holiday season is here, and I had so much fun decorating our new home! The past couple of years I’ve had a gold theme, but I knew for this one I wanted more classic whites and greens while keeping the whimsical details I love. After lots of experimenting, I achieved the vision I had in my head! These decorations make me so happy. It was all made better by the fact that the previous home owners left two trees in the attic – the flocked one by the fireplace and a big one to serve as our main tree.
On the couches, I placed white pom-pom and emerald green covers on the pillows and replaced the fall blankets with winter ones. I decorated the bookshelf with a set of white houses, reindeer, and green and white bottle brush trees, plus a few larger trees, candles, and books from years past. I wanted the mantle to be simple and elegant, so I chose a pine garland, gold candlesticks with white tapers, and a set of sweet white wool trees that I found locally here at Cheekwood’s new Holiday Marketplace. You could leave it at that, but I love twinkle lights so much that I couldn’t resist wrapping a strand through the garland. Finally, I placed the flocked tree found in the attic by the fireplace – It still had the price tag on and did not appear to have ever been used!
H then got the big tree from the attic and set it up. I put white lights on the branches and wrapped my felt pom-pom tree skirt around it. We are going to decorate the tree this weekend with champagne bauble ornaments as well as a few meaningful ornaments from over the years – I definitely want to start intentionally collecting more of those. I am still waiting on the gold beaded garland to arrive and can’t wait to don the tree with it too!

In the opposite corner of the living room, I moved the candlesticks that were on the mantle before as well as my set of birch trees to the coffee table.
I decided to try the stockings on the staircase, and I really like how it turned out! I wrapped a garland around the banister, then tied the stockings and a small wreath with ribbon.
In the kitchen, I swapped our fall hand towels for the holiday ones, the Mrs. Meyers Apple Cider set for Iowa Pine, and the rust wreath for a green one. I also tied two small wreaths to the upper cabinets with velvet ivory ribbon – something I have wanted to do for a few years! It turned out just as lovely as I’d imagined. I secured the ribbons in place on the inside of the cabinet with some masking tape.
I came up with this centerpiece for our kitchen table by chance when I was experimenting, and once I did, fell in love with it! I initially wasn’t sure what to do with the blush bottle brush trees that came with the set of white houses. I had planned to put them together, but I didn’t like the pink in the living room and wanted to keep my white-and-green color scheme. I thought I’d try them in the kitchen, and I liked them on the table. Then I found this white faux fur garland from last year and was debating where to place it when it struck me to try wrapping it around the trees like snow. I instantly knew it worked, and now it’s one of my favorite details!
Soon, we’ll make the bed with our flannel sheets. To get us started, I got out my Barefoot Dreams blanket, which is so soft and cozy and perfect for cold nights. I also hung a cedar wreath above the bed and placed a few little trees in the room, including my gold ones from Giftery.
And finally, I hung this magnolia wreath on the door with this hanger!
