January has felt like a long month to me, and I am looking forward to February’s arrival on Tuesday. In anticipation and excitement, I stored away my winter decor and decorated with all things pink and Valentine’s-inspired. I did this for the first time last winter, and it brought me just as much joy this year. There’s something I love about changing my home decor for seasons and holidays. It keeps me engaged and present in my home and makes the arrival of each season feel fresh and new.
I also took photos for the first time with my new camera, which I recently ordered because I had been wanting some higher-quality images for my blog and personal life. The last camera I bought was a Canon Rebel in 2008, and so I had only been using my iPhone for years. I was needing an upgrade! For now, I have just been shooting on auto, and thus far, I like the quality and ease of using it. I have noticed that my photos have a creamy, smooth appearance. The camera can also transfer pictures and videos to my phone via Bluetooth or WiFi, which is nice since I like editing with the Lightroom mobile app. Plus, it’s small and white, which I love!
Here is our decorated home, all captured by my new Canon:
I did not purchase anything new this year; most of the decor is from Target and the florals are Michael’s. All the pink brightens up the living room and kitchen and makes our home feel quite cheerful! And simple things like the lovely rose petal scent of our countertop cleaner have me feeling like our home is in the countryside with a flower-filled garden.
What little changes could you make in your own home to give yourself a refreshed feeling?
P.S. Enrich your morning and evening routines and self-care for feeling good on cold winter days.
