It’s been a cold winter; the past couple of weeks have been especially bitter, rainy, and gloomy. I am craving spring. Despite all the cold, I went on a walk with Cleo in our neighborhood and noticed the first daffodils blooming as well as a patch of white and soft purple Lenten roses. I recall seeing these roses last year; they begin to bloom in the late winter, reminding me that despite the dreariness, spring is on its way. And thankfully, it does look as though the temperatures will be rising this week.
And so, I decided it was time to store away the pink from Valentine’s and get out my white and green home decor that I’ll keep out for spring and summer. I rediscovered a few books from last year that I’d like to read and do – How to be a Wildflower and The Wildflower’s Workbook. I am ready to welcome the coming season by noticing, observing, and appreciating the changes in nature.
It wouldn’t be a new season if I didn’t swap out everything scented in our home. At the kitchen sink, the eucalyptus Mrs. Meyer’s set now sits (to me this is a spring scent, but they don’t appear to be selling it at the moment). All my spring candles are out; I love the floral notes drifting throughout the house. Something else I always look forward to – the flannel sheets went back into storage today, the crisp white sheets on the bed again.
I’m getting excited for spring produce as well – strawberries and asparagus are two of my favorites. And how fun it will be to fill our patio with flowers again in April and May!
There is so much beauty to anticipate.
P.S. How I decorate for spring, spring patio and garden living, and more posts for spring.
