It’s the last week of August, and Labor Day will be here soon, which means summer is on its way out. There are things I love about all the seasons, and so I am excited for fall’s arrival. Still, I’ll try to wait a few more weeks before swapping out the green and floral for pumpkin and plaid.
This weekend, I have been enjoying all the green in our home. As much as possible, I try to appreciate the present – these last long days, my garden before the summer plants fade, the warmth and sunshine. I can still look forward to the changes of autumn, but I don’t want to rush to get there.
I recently moved this piece to serve as an entry table, and while it is not yet decorated (and certainly needs a piece of art hanging above it!), I like it here. This table is in transition, as are the seasons. I ordered a few fall items (just couldn’t resist) including the candle seen here, which is huge and smells wonderful, as well as this pillow and blanket, both of which I’ll put out next month.
I think it’s absolutely possible to savor where you are now and to anticipate what’s to come. I am noticing the little things in my home, outdoors in nature, and in my life, and simultaneously excited for the seasons ahead.
P.S. Updates on life this August, why I love walking in the park, end of summer thoughts, and the beauty of impermanence.
