The holiday season is upon us, and in our home, it’s already begun. This year, I felt inspired to decorate earlier than I ever have, the second weekend of November. Maybe it’s because my friend Ellen and I went to the Giftery’s Holiday Open House last Friday night (although I do so every year). Or perhaps Netflix’s newly released Christmas movie nudged me along. Whatever the reason, I felt in the spirit and decided to embrace it. I decorated most of our home last weekend and put on the finishing touches last night. Next, we’ll be putting up the tree!
In years past, I’ve focused on a color scheme – white and gold or white and green. This year, I felt inspired to embrace color. There’s still white, gold, and green, but there’s also pink and red in our living room. I think this is my favorite way I’ve decorated yet! I love how bright and happy our home feels. Plus, I’ve used timeless, classic pieces that I know I will love and continue to use for years to come.
I snapped these photos after decorating a week ago. Initially, I was unsure about all the bottle brush trees and colors of my bookshelf village, but it very quickly grew on me. Now, this area of our home is my favorite. It feels so joyful and fun! All of my decor is from years past, except for my knit trees and gold bottle brush trees that I got at this year’s Giftery Holiday Open House. However, many items are still available this year, or at least very similar ones!

Then last night, I added our stockings to the mantel (the little C one is for our dog, Cleo)! Last year, I had our stockings on the staircase railing because I didn’t have a great way to hang them from our mantel. In our previous home, I used these stocking holders, but they do not work on this mantel. This year, I decided to just secure them with a piece of brown packing tape, hidden beneath our decor, and it worked! In the future, perhaps I’ll get simple holders like these or decorative ones. I love having our stockings in our living room this year and think they complement the other colorful decor so well; they add such cheerful pops of red and white.

In our kitchen, I brought back placemats and a centerpiece that I used a few years ago! I also incorporated my mini wreaths hung with ribbon on a few of the cabinets and above the sink. I love switching out my Mrs. Meyers products for a seasonal scent as well.
