Before Thanksgiving, I decorated much of our home for the holidays, and this past week, I finished by putting lights and festive elements on our Christmas tree and front porch!
I first hung the Christmas wreath I bought last year (still available and on sale). I then wrapped the new battery-operated lights I discovered around the wreath and my eucalyptus planters that I keep out year-round. I was very pleased with the lights because they are bright with the warm glow I love, and they are on a timer! Every day they automatically come on when it gets dark and turn off after six hours. It’s perfect.
After finishing the porch, I decorated the tree, of course while wearing my coziest pajamas. The previous homeowners left this artificial tree in the attic, so we’ve used it the past two holidays – why not? We needed some new lights this year, and these were the perfect amount. I started decorating with the set of champagne, silver, and sparkly baubles (very similar set here) and vintage glass ornaments (this year’s set is even more colorful!) from last year, as well as the small collection of ornaments that H and I have acquired over the past few years (more to come from our families). I also had a new set of darling gingerbread ornaments from Anthropologie (a wedding gift); they have since sold out, but there are some similar ones here. I put on a few strands of gold beaded garland (similar) and finished by wrapping the skirt around the base. I was happy with the tree, but felt like it needed some more color, so I ordered these glittered pinecones and red/gold baubles. They should arrive this week, and I can’t wait to add them.
The living room is feeling oh-so-cozy! I also added my new bearaby blanket to the couch (another wedding gift!). It is butter-soft, beautiful, and comforting, and would make a wonderful gift this holiday season.
Finally, I have two new watercolors available in my Etsy shop for immediate download. I hope you enjoy – more to come!
