It was a rainy Saturday yesterday, and I felt inspired to get out my fall decorations. Since we are in a new house, I knew it would take some experimenting to figure out where things fit, but I didn’t realize just how much I would need to play around. In the past, the mantel has been the focal point of my decorating, but without a mantel in the living room, I had to get a little creative. Additionally, we decided to paint and decorate our new living room in cooler colors (our last living room had warmer tones), and it looked best to me to keep accents neutral. I may keep playing with what I have, or get a few new things, and will be sure to keep you posted on the progress! For now, here’s our home.
Initially, I tried my fleece and plaid blankets on the couch, but the orange and red were not working for me, so I decided to keep the summer blankets there. On the coffee table, I added this white pumpkin and beaded garland.
I changed the couch around quite a bit, and finally swapped the blankets out for the cozy gray one from Ash Blue plus the more neutral plaid (and chair pillow). I am going to keep the couch like this for now!
On our living room bookcase, I really liked my green pumpkins and gourd (found here, though they’ve changed the design a bit) and especially love the fall tree photo from our October 22, 2022 wedding.
In our dining room, I put away the spring/summer candlesticks and placemats in favor of fall/winter ones (though I would like some new placemats). The one new item of fall decor I’ve purchased this year is the leaf arrangement, which I’d planned to put in our entryway, but ended up liking it here.
Instead, I placed these faux dahlias in the entryway.
The fall kitchen towels are back out, including these year-round ones because I love anything sage green, as well as the Apple Cider Mrs. Meyer’s trio set.
And I decorated while wearing my new favorite cardigan! I’ve been wearing it nonstop – it’s lightweight but so cozy.
Fall in our home is perhaps a little more subtle than in years past, but I like it so far. Next weekend, I’m thinking I may get pumpkins and mums! Have you started decorating for fall?
P.S. More fall blog posts.
