A very happy October to you! Oh, how I love this month, and the festive, cozy stretch of time from now through the end of December. I also cannot believe we are already here again; time seems to go faster with each year, but I would like to slow it down, find those simple, magic moments, and just enjoy it all. Here are 10 things I love about October and want to savor this season.
1. Fall decorations
Decorating for fall always gets me in the mood for the cozy season as autumnal colors warm up the house. In September, I decorated the interior, included a new velvet pillow, and got my pumpkins and mums. I especially enjoy these elements in October, and look forward to incorporating a few Halloween decorations this month as well – like my new pair of outdoor solar lanterns.
2. Cozy outfits
The weather finally starts to get colder in October, and sweater seasons begins. Soft cardigans, plaid prints – I love cozy fall outfits so much! Albion Fit gifted me this top and these joggers, a perfect transitional outfit for cool mornings but warm afternoons.
3. Treats and eats
From Honeycrisp apples to baked pumpkin bread, the flavors of fall are so comforting. October is a dream month to bake and munch while everything is freshly in season.
4. Fall foliage
The changing leaves in mid- and late October make walks in the park feel magical. I find it enchanting to be surrounded by all the vibrant colors.
5. Jazz music
It’s that time of year when I start playing jazz while making dinner. In fact, we just received this Vince Guaraldi pumpkin-shaped vinyl in the mail, and I cannot wait to play it through our house.
6. Comfort shows & movies
Gilmore Girls, Hocus Pocus, or my personal favorite, Only Murders in the Building – watching autumnal and Halloween shows and movies this month feels fun and festive.
7. Inviting aromas
Some of my favorite aromas include pumpkin, apple, or spices. I highly recommend snagging the Vanilla Pumpkin candle at Trader Joe’s if you see it; it’s not too sweet, but just right.
8. Halloween night
I love being cozy at home, watching a movie, and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Since we recently moved into a new house, this will be our first time with our own trick-or-treaters, and I am so excited for that.
9. Festivals
Cheekwood Harvest is always a favorite event of the season in Nashville. I love an opportunity to walk among beautiful fall flowers and pumpkins.
10. Our wedding anniversary
And speaking of the above, H and I got married on October 22, 2022 at Cheekwood! Our very first wedding anniversary is coming up. I can’t believe it’s almost been a year.
