I woke up Saturday morning in a gleeful mood, full of gratitude for our new home which is just a dream come true, and for the start of the Christmas season, a time of joy and magic. This past week, I decorated for the season over two late afternoons, craving the soft string lighting and cheerful colors, trees, and baubles. I haven’t forgotten Thanksgiving, but after attending the Cheekwood Holiday Lights preview on Thursday and Giftery Holiday Open House on Friday, I can’t help but feel in the spirit. And so, our home is full of holiday merriment; the one thing yet to come is our new Christmas tree, set to arrive on Monday (yay!).
I decorated the bookshelf with my colorful bottle brush trees, Christmas village, reindeer figurines, holiday candles, and festive reads.
On the couch, I got my favorite Barefoot Dreams blanket back out as well as our fleece Eddie Bauer throw, and on the coffee table, my bottle brush tree candle and a little flocked tree I’ve had for many years.
Since we do not have a fireplace on our main floor, I created a little faux mantel with the table under our TV and love how it turned out. I positioned our electric fireplace underneath and hung our stockings. On the table, I set the soft white and pink wool trees, threaded with glitter and gold, that I found at Cheekwood’s Holiday Marketplace. I just adore them; they are so sweet and whimsical. I also draped the garland atop the speaker along with string lights (which works great and doesn’t interfere). Beside the table is the pre-lit flocked tree that we found in the attic of our previous home.
On the dining room table, I laid our champagne gold placemats along with a centerpiece from years past.
For the dining room buffet, I placed gold bottle brush trees that I found at Giftery, gold brushed candle holders with tapers, and a charming gingerbread house ornament from Cheekwood (that I love but might be a bit heavy for our tree, so better displayed this way).
I hung my mini wreaths in the kitchen with ivory ribbon. I put out festive towels and a new Christmas tree pot holder that I got at Giftery (just so cute!), as well as a gold tree from Giftery in my tea nook and a new wreath on the back door.
These decorations bring me so much joy! The last thing I did on Sunday afternoon was set up a few lights outside, and I will share these as well as our Christmas tree once it’s arrived and set up. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving week and start to the holiday season.
