Our Christmas card photo
It’s winter break for me, and I am so looking forward to two cozy and festive weeks. This is the time of year to slow down, be present, and savor each simple and magical moment of string lights, togetherness, and movie-and-pajama nights. Last weekend, I started to get my bake on in our new kitchen, and what a delight it was to make annual Christmas sugar cookies here with easy, homemade icing (powdered sugar and almond milk) and sprinkles.
I am going to make more of these this week – I may even try to chill them, roll them out, and cut out shapes with the dough. I hope it works! My mom and I are also going to make classic gingerbread cookies with her delicious, chewy recipe; these thankfully work well with gluten-free flour (I prefer King Arthur). I’m also excited for morning grapefruit, wrapping gifts, and fun activities around Nashville.
But most of all, I am looking forward to simply being festive and having fun with loved ones – drinking champagne on Christmas Eve, playing board games, driving around and looking at the lights, and sipping tea by the fire. To me, it really is the most wonderful time of the year. I hope you feel very merry, and let your heart be light.
No blog post next Sunday since it’s Christmas Eve. Head here more holiday inspiration. Sending love and joy to you.
