This Sunday was finally time to visit the pumpkin patch! I have been eager to pick out my annual pumpkins and mums. Between heat and a very rainy last weekend, I waited until today – admittedly still a hot day, but the cold front is coming tonight and bringing some dreamy fall weather this week.
Picking out pumpkins is one of my favorite fall traditions. This year I chose a few fairytale, ghost, and classic orange pumpkins.
I stacked the fairytale pumpkins on our wall that lines the driveway. I tried putting pumpkins here last year, but they were eaten by squirrels; this time I spritzed them with a mixture of cayenne pepper, white vinegar, and water and am hoping it keeps them away.
I placed the white and orange pumpkins on the front steps along with the yellow mums, lanterns from last year, and two outdoor pumpkin decorations from Creekside. My spring plants are still alive and well in the pots below, but I may replace them with the mums at some point.
Indoors, I put the summer blankets away and got out the soft and cozy fall ones.
I also got out a few Halloween decorations from years past (all from Giftery), and H added some spookiness to the chandelier with spider webs.
Another something that make this weekend sweet was the pumpkin sourdough loaf by Homemade by Holly – a delicious breakfast treat.
A very happy October to you!
P.S. More of my fall decorations this year and 10 things I love about October.
