This is my favorite year yet of decorating our Christmas tree. Each year, we have been given a few more ornaments to add to the tree, which makes it more special and personal with sweet memories. Yesterday afternoon, I set up our tree (new last year), which is very easy. After putting on the lights, I could not resist decorating, too, and spent the rest of the evening leisurely adorning the branches with ornaments while listening to music from The Nutcracker.
I also hung our stockings as well as the holiday wreaths, and I set up our outdoor lights.
At the end of the evening, I remembered that I had bought a few small spools of velvet ribbon at the end of last holiday season, and I cut the ribbon and tied it into small bows, enjoying the process as I streamed the night’s Eras Tour concert in Toronto on my phone. Music makes most any activity better.
Many of our ornaments were wedding gifts, gifts from other occasions, or ones we found on travels (like our honeymoon in Anguilla and Christmas trip to New York City). A new ornament this year is the Hedwig from my parents – perfect as we went to Harry Potter World this fall. I also had to get myself a Taylor Swift ornament.
Here’s the tree lit up last night after I had finished decorating and was heading to bed feeling so happy. I just love Christmastime.
I found this little gingerbread house ornament at Cheekwood last year, but it was only last night that I realized it lights up! I love it and displayed it here so that I would notice and enjoy it.
The lights, colors, and coziness of holiday decorations just make the house feel so bright and joyful. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving week and beginning to the holiday season.
P.S. All my holiday posts.
