The past few weeks have brought some fun experiences my way. The holidays can be such a busy time, and while I love staying cozy at home and watching Christmas movies, I’ve also been enjoying seeing loved ones and venturing out. Here are some recent highlights.
Hosting a gathering with family
While I’ve hosted my girlfriends over for informal gatherings, H and I had our first party with family, and it was so fun. We served charcuterie, crudités, and homemade nibbles, and my mom brought Prosecco and apple ciders for festive cocktails reminiscent of our wedding.
Cheekwood Holiday Lights
The pièce de résistance of Cheekwood Holiday Lights this year is – in my opinion – not the lights outside, but the mansion, which has been elaborately and elegantly decorated in the most gorgeous, colorful baubles, ribbon, and florals by former White House florist Laura Dowling. It is truly something spectacular.
Wicked
Have you seen Wicked? The hype is deserved. I am totally obsessed and cannot stop listening to the soundtrack.
Elf in Concert with the Nashville Symphony
For the first time ever, Elf showed at the Schermerhorn while the Nashville Symphony played the score. It was such fun; I always love the Symphony’s Movie Series.
Kacey Musgraves at Bridgestone
H and I saw Kacey Musgraves at Bridgestone Arena this past Saturday night and had the best time. She had such a warm presence and sounded amazing live. I love her latest album, Deeper Well. Have you listened?
Nutcracker Tea at the Hermitage Hotel
My mom and I went to Hermitage Hotel for their Nutcracker Tea on Sunday afternoon – something we have wanted to try for years, but the reservations always get snagged very early. Thankfully, this year we remembered to make a reservation in September! The tea was really a treat, complete with a holiday popper, live pianist, lovely tea, sparkling rosé, and delicate, delicious bites. It really got us both in the Christmas spirit.
Still to come: seeing Nashville’s Nutcracker and then getting into holiday activities at home. I am ready to watch some Christmas movies and bake cookies. What festive moments are looking forward to this December?
