Each January, after putting the tree and colorful Christmas decorations away, I leave out white and green decorations for winter.
In recent years, I have begun embracing and even enjoying winter. Leaving string lights hanging and snowy winter decorations has fostered this still-recent fondness for the slow season.
The living room feels like a cozy haven for snuggling on the couch with a soft blanket, a good book, and a cup of wintry tea.
Winter lends itself to introspection, reflection, creativity, and moving slowly, and I love having a warm, cheerful home for winter’s quieter pursuits.
My word for 2025 is joy, and this space makes me feel joy through January, continuing to have festive feelings even after the holidays have ended.
This January, I hope to inspire you to leave some string lights, a small winter tree, and anything else that encourages an appreciation of winter – or at least a warm space full of soft light and comforts for the cold days. Wishing you a cozy start of 2025.
P.S. The magic of January, 3 wonderful books to cozy up and read, and my word for 2025.
