You could say tea is my love language. I have been a tea drinker, as inspired by my mom and grandmother, since around high school. Each morning, I start with a cup of black tea (typically Earl Grey), enjoy green tea after lunch, and end the day with a comforting cup of peppermint tea. One of my favorite celebratory activities is going to an afternoon tea, and there are four festive places in Nashville where I have sipped on delicious tea and munched on delicate sandwiches, scones, and sweets.

Cheekwood
Over my spring break, my mom and I returned to Cheekwood to stroll through the blooms and partake in their spring afternoon tea – which we also attended on my birthday last year. We have enjoyed their holiday tea as well. Cheekwood offers seasonal teas for each part of the year inside their Café 29 at $50 per attendee, with the option of booking for two or four people. They offer delicious tea options by my favorite tea brand and serve a three-tiered tray of treats soon after you sit, so you can leisurely sip and snack as you please. It’s a relaxed, slightly more casual tea – but still very lovely.
The Hermitage Hotel
We attended Nutcracker Tea at The Hermitage last December, which was quite an elegant experience, with a live pianist, holiday popper, sparkling rosé in addition to tea, and an artistic display of delicious, festive bites. At $100 per person (and $45 for children under 10), this tea is a special treat. The Hermitage offers a traditional tea and other occasion teas throughout the year; coming up is their Mother’s Day tea. Book early for any of their teas as they are popular and fill up quickly.
Blue Aster at The Conrad
We celebrated my birthday and Easter at Blue Aster’s afternoon tea two years ago. It was a wonderful, relaxing experience with champagne, tea, and scrumptious bites; I particularly loved the Easter egg macaron. This tea is a great option if you are closer to midtown, or perhaps wish to enjoy a staycation at The Conrad (which H and I did after we were married). The cost is $85 per person.
The Café at Thistle Farms
Thistle Farms was my first afternoon tea experience for my birthday in 2018. Their café offers tea six days a week at $30 per person, so it is the most affordable and and easy-to-book option. I remember this tea being lovely, and I need to go again soon! They also offer a tea party to-go box which is a fun option.

Other places I have indulged in afternoon tea include London and Amsterdam. In a dream world, I would pause my work schedule and have afternoon tea every day!
Have you enjoyed afternoon tea? I would love to hear about it in the comments.
P.S. More fun in Nashville.
