Brightening up the patio with spring flowers is one of the joys of April. Over Easter weekend, my mom and I went to Green Door Gourmet as soon as they had their plants in. Although last year I visited our new local farm stand to acquire flowers, I wanted to return to Green Door (where I got my plants in 2023, 2022, and 2021) anyway to get some of their fresh strawberries, too!

The flowers this year were particularly beautiful. I picked out:
- Dahlia (2) – White and Pink
- Verbena (2) – Lanai Upright Rose with Eye and Lanai Upright Twister Watercolor
- Lantana – Shamrock Rose Gold
- Lobelia – Techno Upright Light Blue (1) and Techno Upright White (2)
- Cuphea – Enchantia Purple
- Chef Jeff’s Strawberry – Everbearing – Berries Galore
- Angelonia – Archangel White
- Geranium (2) – Calliope Medium White Splash and Calliope Medium Pink Flame
- Zinnia (2) – Zahara Raspberry
I planted all of them on Easter Sunday after church and lunch with family, using our complimentary compost from Compost Nashville, an excellent local service that makes composting so easy (sign up this April and receive $20 off!)

I love sitting outside on the patio and having lunch on the weekends in the sunshine, admiring the blooms! They brighten the space up beautifully. H and I also planted seeds in our garden – a mix of vegetables (cucumbers, kale, melons, and more) and flowers (zinnias, cosmos, wildflowers) – and we are so excited to see what grows.
Are you doing any gardening this spring?
P.S. A spring bouquet and happy things for April.
