It’s late summer, which means the garden is getting to be at its wildest. I love the zinnias growing ever taller with their bright pink, orange, and red blooms, and the cucumbers and summer squash we continue to harvest and eat.

It’s been lovely to have enough zinnias to make bouquets while still leaving plenty for our daily hummingbird and butterfly visitors.

I planted zinnia seeds in the backyard garden with our vegetables, which we have let become particularly wild, and they are now vibrantly towering.

I also planted zinnia seeds here in the spring. The blooms now surround our patio and are my dream come to life.

These started out as little bunches and have grown and thrived in the pots out front.

Although it has been a mostly hot summer, I have enjoyed the screen porch and patio when possible with views of the garden, and look forward to doing so more as it cools down soon.

A few weeks ago, I had friends over and made this super fresh, delicious orzo salad with my favorite pesto, arugula, and feta. So easy, but so tasty.

I have been loving a fresh peach from the farm stand in our neighborhood along with my usual blueberries, granola, and yogurt in the morning.
What little things are bringing you joy this August? Let’s soak up the rest of what summer has to offer.
P.S. Some personal life updates, beach reads, and a look at last August.
