It can be so easy to do all your Christmas shopping online, but it’s so much more meaningful to shop local. You’re supporting small businesses. You get help picking out items. And you find more original, meaningful gifts that not everyone will have! I have a hard time getting motivated to go out and shop during the Christmas season, but I never regret the experience when I go local.
Here are my top picks for your Nashville holiday shopping outings:
For Decor & Hostess Gifts
The Beveled Edge – Located on White Bridge Rd., this shop has some of my favorite holiday decor (like gold trees) as well as cute candles, dishes, napkins, mugs and more. Note: They also offer custom frames if you’re gifting a piece of art or photograph.
Thrive – Find artisan & handmade items – from essential oils to beeswax candles – at this store on Fatherland in East Nashville. Also find handmade jewelry, bags, and much more. This is the place to shop for your friend with good taste.
For Apparel, Jewelry, & Eclectic Gifts
Pangaea – Perfect for your friend with bohemian taste, there are so many gems in Pangaea. Located in Hillsboro Village, this store has some of my favorite earrings, pillows, candles, dresses, books, and more.
Fabu – Find essentially everything in this store on Charlotte. With 10 different rooms, you could shop for nearly everyone on your list here. Find great clothing brands and jewelry, home decor, baby gifts, man-cave items – you name it.
Castilleja – I love this shop in Edgehill Village. Castilleja has curated an appealing collection of clothing, accessories, baby, home, and kitchen items. They have pretty candles, pillows, mugs, and more.
For Lovers of Print
Parnassus – Our local independent bookstore in Hillsboro Plaza Shopping Center is the best place to buy a book for anyone on your list. Their collection is beautifully laid out and navigable, and their staff is knowledgable. As an elementary school teacher, I especially love their thoughtful children’s collection!
Her Bookshop – This local bookstore recently opened in East Nashville. I haven’t gotten a chance to check it out yet, but I’ve heard it’s a cozy, welcoming space with a one-of-a-kind selection. I can’t wait to visit!
For Beauty, Body, & Mind
The Lotus Room – Give someone who needs a little relaxation a gift card to the Lotus Room on 18th Ave. S. They offer a variety of massages, body therapies, sleep therapy, and much more.
Thistle Farms – Not only does Thistle Farms make my favorite lotion of all time, but they carry many great bath + body products, apparel, and more. I love all their natural home and body products, and each is handmade by women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction.
For the Arts
What better gift for the one who loves the arts than tickets to a show? I recommend checking out performances at the Nashville Symphony, TPAC, the Nashville Ballet, or the Nashville Repertory Theatre.
Happy shopping/supporting your local businesses!
