Fall, at last! I have been craving this cool weather that we are overdue for after a mostly steamy September. The little taste of chill air and the official arrival of the new season have gotten me into a fall frenzy, and I have transformed my apartment from bright and summery into snug and homey. I have a few simple tricks to freshen up your living space and get those cozy vibes:
Couch Accents
Start with the color scheme you already have in your living space, and go from there. I did not want anything brightly colored on my couch – that just would not fit – so I stuck with the greys and blues already present in the room. I found this Trick or Treat Yourself Pillow Cover from Pottery Barn (on sale!) that blends so well and is meant for October. Plus, I say “treat yoself” approximately twice per day, so what could be better for me? I also switched out my light, white summer blanket for this Textured Plaid Throw (also super on sale) – it looks grey in the picture but is actually more blue, and matches the room perfectly.
Decor in Your Color Scheme
Add a fun coffee table piece that fits your current living space. This Glitter German Pumpkin (on sale from PB, too!) goes beautifully with the greys in my room – and the silver glitter makes it really sparkle and pop.
Subtle Fall Colors
I love The Perfect Little Store because Abbey’s prints are darling, and her candles are so expertly made that their scents waft through my apartment even when they are not lit. What’s more, the colors she uses for fall are not too bright. The light blushes and oranges subtly blend in with my space, giving the room a gentle warm glow. Use code BLYTHE15 to get 15% off her goodies!
Pop of Color
I love having flowers in the house, but I hate how quickly they can die. This Faux Dahlia Bundle (this is on sale too! seriously) is the perfect solution. It looks authentic and lush. Flowers (faux ones included) are often the best way to add a pop of color when you do not want to commit to a more permanent piece – or if you just generally prefer more muted colors.
Drinkware
Anyone else love switching up their drinkware seasonally? I found these wine glasses in the dollar section at Target – what a steal! Although I cannot link these for you, I found a few similar cute things on Etsy: “Let’s Stay Home” mug, “Basic AF” mug, “Mornin’ Pumpkin” mug, “Cheers Witches” wine glass, and “thankful” wine glass. Drinking out of something seasonal just makes me feel more festive.
Put It Together
Take your new pieces and spread them around the room: on your coffee table, side tables, and couch. Mix and match. See what you like together.
Enjoy
Et voilà! Your new space is curated and ready for cuddling. The finished product for me felt ideal – and very me. I kept my greys and blues and added a few fall colors to make the space feel fresh. If you want to decorate for fall, make it you! If you love warm tones, you may opt for a rusty orange blanket instead. Do what feels right, do not force anything that does not – and enjoy it!
Happy falling!
Love, Bee
