This past Friday evening, H and I ventured out to Green Door Gourmet, where they were hosting a “frolic in the flowers” during golden hour. I had never been in a sunflower field before and knew we couldn’t miss this! Plus, I am quite fond of Green Door Gourmet, a 350 acre farm and market in Nashville. It is always a joy to visit this beautiful spot.
When we arrived, we headed in the market for a drink at their bar! The specialty cocktail of the evening was a Sorghum Apple Cider. We couldn’t even taste the alcohol; it was like a fresh apple juice for adults. Such a treat! Green Door Gourmet makes their own sorghum (and grows everything else that flavored the drink) so it tasted incredibly fresh.
We wandered down to the field, drinks in hand. I was instantly captivated by the rows and rows of these happy flowers in the late afternoon light.
We were told that these were a smaller variety of sunflowers – not the big tall giants that come to mind when most people think of them. And in fact, these smaller sunflowers are better for the environment and pollinators.
There couldn’t have been a lovelier day to gaze at these beauties.
It made for perfect goodbye to summer and hello to fall – as well as a dream date night!
How are you welcoming fall?
Love, Bee
