The past weeks have been challenging as I went back to school in person (with a few remote students) to teach third grade. The past months have been difficult for many of us as we are all facing different things and dealing with them in our own ways. I have come to realize that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes. It is also okay to get to the end of a challenging week and buy yourself some flowers, which is exactly what I did this weekend at Green Door Gourmet. Getting these flowers – along with other local goodies that have made for fresh, delicious meals – reminded me that there is still joy to be found. Here’s some other moments of joy I’ve had, even on hard days, for which I am grateful:
This August, there have been some brilliant pink sunset skies. At the end of long days, these skies have given me peace and hope.
We have also had many cool mornings which have been a dream for park walks with H and Cleo. In fact, all spring and summer, we have enjoyed much milder weather than we normally do. Read why I love walking in the park.
A little kindness goes a long way. My aunt generously had brunch catered to H and me this morning from Once Upon A Time Catering. It was such a delicious treat! See tips for crafting your own perfect weekend morning here.
A fellow teacher told me about Lele Sadoughi face masks, and let me tell you, these are the most comfortable. They are incredibly soft while still protective and have a pocket for a filter. This one that I’m wearing comes with a matching headband which has buttons on it. This way, you can fasten your mask to the headband, alleviating pressure from your ears. I actually get excited to wear this mask to school!
