We have been getting settled in our new home over the past two weeks, and things have been gradually evolving as we figure out these new spaces and acquire some new pieces. School also started this past week – my eighth year of teaching. The start of school makes August the busiest, most tiring time of year for me, and with moving, too, I have not had much time just for me, for reading and writing and doing the activities I love. But I know I will soon, as our home and the school year start to settle and the routine sets in. For now, this morning, I found respite in our sun-filled home and screen porch, a beautiful preview of the many mornings to come. I am sharing some scenes from this warm, sweet start to the day. How wonderful it will be to cease the constant organizing and arranging, and just be and live here. We’re close to that point.
H arranged these beautiful flowers for me to come home to on the first day of school, and they still look lovely.
Our living room feels light and bright as well as cozy.
We added this buffet to our dining room, a special piece that belonged to my grandfather. The lamp and vase were wedding gifts from AshBlue.
I have been loving the kitchen, and once I get into a rhythm with school, would like to start cooking and baking more.
Sitting on the screen porch has been so peaceful. The furniture comes from H’s family, and we bought replacement cushions – this set of cushions for the couch and these for the chairs along with this set of pillows. I have also ordered these pillows for the couch and this rug, and think they will complete the room.
I chose new bedding for the upstairs guest bed in one of my favorite colors for the home, sage green. I opted for these sheets – they are so soft – with this quilt and matching shams.
We needed a bedroom rug, and I snagged this gorgeous, ultra-lush Rifle Paper Co. rug on sale. It is a dream for our bedroom – beautiful and unbelievably soft on bare feet.
Oh, how I love this home. I look forward to sharing more with you, especially as we get into fall.
