On Saturday night, I had some girlfriends over for dinner, chatting, and making vision boards for 2025. We were all born in the early 90s, when we used to cut out clips from magazines and make collages, and I thought it would be fun to bring back this nostalgic activity. Lately, my friends and I have enjoyed doing crafts together; it’s a relaxing and entertaining way to spend time with one another and exercise our creativity, and it sparks new conversations.

On the coffee table, we compiled our magazines (all the Real Simple from me – my favorite!) as well as thick paper from a sketchbook, scissors, glue, and double-sided tape. The goal was to find images and words that serve as inspiration for the new year – essentially, what we would like to see or experience more of in 2025.

While we listened to music in the background and caught up with one another, I found the activity quite hypnotic and simultaneously became a bit lost in the quest for inspiration. I discovered many words and illustrations that resonated.

Here are our finished vision boards. They all turned out uniquely us. This felt to be such a purposeful and creative way to set dreams and intentions, and thus hopefully make them a reality. I was excited to find the word “joyful,” since my word of the year is “joy,” as well as “write” as I would love to make more time for creative writing. The other words and pictures are pursuits that I enjoy and ones I hope to engage in further – reading, gardening, simple pleasures, and more.

My board makes me happy since it is a visual representation of what I really delight in and value. I plan to look at it throughout the year and feel inspired as well as content, knowing that I am doing these things.
I hope this might encourage you to set some dreams and intentions!
