I am almost 11 weeks postpartum and nearly out of the woods with all of this initial postpartum and post-surgery recovery. I had surgery right after birth and again three weeks ago, and I have a few more weeks to go – then I can resume normal activities (like yoga, which I miss so much), at last! I am so relieved that I am recovering well and every day get closer to moving and feeling more like myself again.
Although today is cold, we’ve recently been enjoying some spring-like weather, and it has made the ice storm feel like a distant memory. Thankfully, the warm weather coincided with my feeling up to walking again (the one activity I’ve been able to do), and getting out with our family each day for a walk in the sunshine has done wonders for my mental health.
Having a winter baby has actually worked out beautifully because we’ve been tucked away inside when we would be staying in and cozy anyway, and I will be recovered just in time for spring’s beginning, and the baby being past the newborn stage (which is bittersweet). Plus, he is sleeping longer at night. We will be able to do more, so soon.
I am picturing us sitting on the screen porch together, and out in the garden, planting our spring flowers. Before I know it, a year will be coming up from when I found out I was pregnant (April 2!), and now our life with our little one is just beginning. I feel very grateful and hopeful.
P.S. More of motherhood.
