At the very start of the new year, H, Cleo, and I moved into a new home! We had been living in a 2nd floor condo and are now in a townhouse, which gives us more space, including a small backyard area and patio. We love our new place and have been enjoying getting settled and organizing. Of course, things are still a work in progress and will surely change. But for now, I’m going to share our home with you in its current state!
The Entry
It’s so refreshing to have an entry hall! We’ve never had one before, and it really makes this place feel like a home. There’s also a half bath.
New purchases for the entry hall include: Side Door Curtains + Tension Curtain Rods (ideal if you have tall slim windows on either side of your front door)
The Living Room
You might notice a slight change in decor between this and the first image. I have been playing with my winter decorations!
The first thing we did in the living room was paint all the walls (which were blue). Then once we moved in, this room was initially a bit of a challenge for us. Our sectional couch (see how it looked in our last home here) looked too big. Instead, I split it up! I placed one half in front of the TV, facing the gray couch, and the other part in the corner of the room to form a separate sitting area. I also changed the direction of our coffee table to fit the space. We created a little music area as well. I think it all worked out rather nicely!
New purchases for the living room include: 3-Tier Bookshelf (two for the plants- so easy to assemble), 4-Tier Bookshelf (beside the fireplace), Plush Snow White Rug, Area Rug
The Kitchen
I love our kitchen! When we first got the place, the kitchen was painted blue with a dark brown countertop and black appliances. It felt dark and cramped. H painted the walls and the shutters, and we got brand new quartz countertops as well as all new appliances. H also put the knobs on the cabinets. Now, it feels bright and happy in there.
New purchases for the kitchen include: 3-Tier Rolling Cart, Folding Step Ladder, Quartz Countertops from Granite Masters, Edgecomb Gray Paint, Appliances from CenWood Appliance
The Upstairs
Here’s part of the upstairs, where we have our washer and dryer as well. Pictured above is the guest room, which has its own bathroom and two closets. The master is also upstairs:
The Master
Here’s our bedroom and (part of) our bathroom! H installed the blinds and blackout curtains for us (which we need, as a bright light shines right into the room). The bathroom is joined by a separate room for the toilet and shower/bath on one side, and the master closet on the other. H painted the master vanity white, and we got new countertops in all the bathrooms as well.
New purchases for the master include: Blinds, Wood Plant Stands (Set of 2), Blackout Shades (similar)
I’m finding a lot of joy in our new home. It feels cozy and homey, and I’m excited to see what else we do with it. Thanks so much for reading!
P.S. How (and why) I decorated our (previous) home for winter.
